  • What is a call for tenders?
    Call for tenders
Competitive search for a competent business partner who is able to deliver a certain product or service in the desired form and time at the most favourable conditions. Competitive search for a competent business partner who is able to deliver a certain product or service in the desired form and time at the most favourable conditions.

    Call for tenders (functional)
Service specifications according to functional objectives instead of individual items and quantities.
  • What distinguishes the turn-tilt opening method?
The classic among the window opening types is certainly still the tilt and turn function. A 90° turn opens the window, a 180° turn tilts it. Of course, side-hung sashes to the right or to the left are possible - depending on your living situation or your preferences. Even the classic balcony doors, as they are installed in most apartments and houses, use this opening method. In special cases, such as kitchen windows, a combination of one or two turn/tilt sashes at the top with a fixed sash (cannot be opened) at the bottom is often the best solution. In this way, a large glass surface can be achieved without having to constantly put objects to one side when opening.
  • What is the effect of a thermal bridge?
Heat seeks its way from the heated room to the outside. It follows the path of least resistance.
A thermal bridge is a localized area of the building envelope where a changed (usually increased) heat flow occurs compared to directly adjacent areas (assuming a temperature difference between inside and outside).

    Effects of thermal bridges are:

-Changed, usually reduced internal surface temperatures; in the worst case this can lead to moisture penetration of building components and mould growth.
    - Changed, usually increased heat losses

Both can be avoided in a passive house: The surface temperatures are then so high everywhere that there is no longer any critical moisture load - and the additional heat losses become negligible. If the thermal bridge losses are smaller than a limit value (set at 0.01 W/(mK)), the detail meets the criteria for "thermal bridge-free design".
  • What is the advantage of window installation without thermal bridges?
The additional energy losses caused by thermal bridges are greatly reduced by pre-wall installation without thermal bridges. Starting points for thermal improvement are the U-value of the frame, the position of the window in the masonry or wooden wall, and the greatest possible over-insulation of the frame by the insulation of the external wall.
  • Thermal comfort, what is that?
Comfort is part of the Passive House programme: The requirements of the Passive House standard automatically ensure that all comfort criteria are optimally met - considerably better thermal insulation also improves thermal comfort:

Better thermal insulation (regardless of the external component) reduces the heat flow from inside to outside.
Therefore, the heat flow from the interior to the inner surface of this exterior component is also lower. The heat flow overcomes the so-called heat transfer resistance of the surface (radiation and convection).

The lower heat flow results in a lower temperature drop over this heat transfer resistance, in other words: the temperature difference between the room (the surfaces in the room and the air in the room) and the inner surface of the better insulated component decreases.
  • What is thermal insulation glass?
Insulating glass is called thermal insulation glass if at least one of the individual panes has a coating that considerably reduces heat loss from the heat radiation component. As a rule, the space between the panes is also filled with an inert gas to reduce heat loss from heat conduction.
  • What does the thermal resistance R indicate?
Lambda opposite is the thermal resistance R. It indicates the resistance that a component offers to the outflow or ingress of thermal energy. The lower the thermal resistance, the lower the insulating effect of a material. Materials with a high thermal resistance are therefore particularly suitable for windows or doors.
  • What is a threshold?
Bottom stop of a front door or a French door for barrier-free design.
  • What is a tilt and turn window?
Classic tilt and turn windows are also equipped with only one sash. However, they can be opened wide and tilted.
  • What is a top mounted roller shutter?
If the house is built with a single-shell wall construction (e.g. 36 mm brick), it is also possible to install a top-mounted roller shutter (often also called top-mounted roller shutter). Here the box of the roller shutter sits as part of the actual window on the upper window frame - the roller shutter is integrated in the window. Depending on the structural conditions, the roller shutter box can also be plastered on the outside of the top box so that it is no longer visible.
  • What is the function of the general contractor (TU)?
TU differs from general contractors (GU) in that it also carries out the planning work, namely the design work, for the building ordered by the client.
  • Where does the total contractor procedure / the general contractor procedure apply?
    TU/GU procedure
The TU/GU model is used where the public or private client entrusts planning and execution to a contractual partner who is responsible for the entire project, including the associated project and contract management in all work phases.
  • What is triple thermal insulation glass?
Thermal insulation glass consisting of three individual panes, two of which usually have a coating. To comply with the energy values required by the EnEV, triple-glazed thermal insulation glass is practically obligatory today. Windows in passive houses are triple-glazed to reduce transmission heat losses; they let the sun in and the winter cold out. Frames with particularly good insulation properties are also used.

If one also takes into account that the solar energy entering free of charge through the passive house window can also cancel out the heat losses in the core winter, there are net energy gains if the window is aligned appropriately and not too much shading. The window has gone from being a "cold hole" to a "heating system".

Nowadays, triple glazing "pays off" with every window purchase simply through the energy savings achieved.

Welcome to the ENERsign® U-Value window configurator:

The U-value window is also called heat transfer coefficient and according to the standard DIN EN 10077 it indicates the amount of thermal energy lost through a window to the outside.

The U-value window is calculated using the formula W/(m²K), i.e. watts per square metre and Kelvin. This value refers to the entire window and defines the amount of energy per unit of time that flows through an area of one square meter when the air temperature on both sides differs by one Kelvin. The lower this value is, the less energy or heat the window emits.
